Patients with Wilson’s disease can be managed at the Paul Brousse site through either:

  1. Standard consultations
  2. Hospitalisation in the Day Hospital where a variety of supplementary investigations can be carried out, such as abdominal ultrasound, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy under anaesthetic and the determination of hepatic fibrosis using a Fibroscan. Consultations may also be carried out during this short period of hospitalisation
  3. Standard hospitalisation in the event of a decompensation of liver disease.

Molecular biology investigations are carried out by the Molecular Genetics Department.
Copper assessments are performed by the Toxicology Department at Hôpital Lariboisière.

Children with Wilson’s disease can be managed at the Bicêtre site through:

  1. Consultations at the Paediatric Polyclinic where they can see doctors from the Paediatric Hepatology Department, and dieticians and nurses from the centre.
  2. Hospitalisation in the Paediatric Hepatology Department or Paediatric Intensive Care Unit if they suffer from the most severe forms of the disease (fulminant Wilson’s disease)

Molecular biology investigations are carried out by the Molecular Genetics Department.

Copper assessments are performed by the Toxicology Department at Hôpital Lariboisière.

Molecular biology investigations are carried out by Dr Muriel BOST at :

The East Lyon Centre for Biology and Pathology – Molecular Neurogenetics and the Network of Hereditary Metabolic Diseases.

Copper assessments, including that of exchangeable copper (Cu EXE) and the ratio of exchangeable copper/total copper (REC), are performed by Dr Muriel BOST in the Laboratory for Trace Metal Analysis (Biochemistry Department) at Hôpital Edouard Herriot, Lyon.

Following a neuropsychological assessment, patients may be seen by Dr Caroline DEMILY (psychiatrist) for a review of their case and appropriate cognitive/psychiatric management:
